University Carlos II Madrid – Research Assistant May 2015

Universidad Carlos III Madrid invites applications for one Research Assistant (RA) funded as part of the Horizon 2020 programme of the European Commission.

Job description

At Universidad Carlos III Madrid, the appointed researcher will be resident in the Department of Social Sciences and contribute to the GEMM project under the supervision of Professor Javier Polavieja (http://javiergpolavieja.wix.com/polavieja), with additional mentorship from other team members.

The appointed researcher help the Spanish research team to identify job vacancies and will be responsible for sending job applications, as well as receiving and coding employers’ responses to those applications. The RA should assist the team in constructing a database comprising all this information.

Required qualifications

  • Applicants should at least hold a BSc in any Social Science or related discipline (Sociology, Economics, Political Science, and Psychology). Applicants who are pursuing or who have recently obtained a Master degree or a PhD are also welcome.
  • Applicants must have experience in quantitative methods and should be demonstrably versed in the use of standard software packages, such as SPSS, Stata, R or Excel.
  • Applicants should be fluent in both English and Spanish (both oral and written).
  • Experience in field-experimental research is not required, but will be highly valued.

Working hours

The expected starting date is October 1st 2015 and the duration is 12 months, with the possibility of renewal for a second year.
